If you already have one, stick with it…in fact, share it with us in the comments section. If you do not have a plan for studying the Bible with your kids, try this one out. Our goal/prayer is that our kids will believe in Jesus, grow into His likeness and be equipped to share the gospel with the unreached. The Creation to Christ Discovery Bible study is being used around the world to communicate the message of the gospel among the unreached. Additionally, we use the Creation to Christ slides to keep the big picture gospel story in front of them as we explore the Bible together. To help them engage, we also have them draw a picture or act out the passage in a skit and suggest a memory passage. I love watching our children discover truths about God and His gospel from the pages of Scripture. We go at a realistic pace based on their age (ex: we cover all the 7 days of creation in 7 days, not 1). We are following the “Creation to Christ” Discovery Bible study reference list developed by David Watson (listed below) to determine what we read (in bite-sized chunks) and the Swedish Bible Study method (also called the “star” method) to examine the passage. It has been a delight to watch our kids read the passages, make observations, ask questions, find answers and learn about the story of the gospel through a survey of the Old and New Testament. We recently began the “Creation to Christ” Bible study with our children. We do not claim to be experts but thought this was worth sharing. The Scripture lists are a collection of narratives from the Bible designed to help people learn about God through studying Creation, the Fall, and Redemption. How do you study the Bible with your children? How do you consistently share the gospel with them? How do you equip them to make disciples? The most important parts of these resources are the Scripture lists. It is rather viewing the Scripture as a very fine. From a Christian point of view, the inquiry method is not matching interviews, library reference research, brainstorming, discussion, and Bible study as equal approaches to truth. These resources are designed to help you with the process. Perhaps the most crucial problem of discovery teaching is the tendency to slip away from propositional revelation. This is how a reproducing Movement gets started.Īnd YES. These can be used in small groups, missional communities, or any other structure of small groups as well as used in natural organic church planting movements. The leader learns to share this with another person and ask them to share with someone else. Obedience to God through obedience to the Word must be genuine. You can begin by doing 3 column studies as your personal devotion. The leader should only lead the first one or two studies before people begin to adopt it as a natural part of the rhythms of their life. This means that the Bible is the authority for the group. The Bible Discovery Method/Study is not preaching or teaching, but a Bible based discussion which seeks to help the reader apply what they are learning as opposed to learning just for the sake of information alone. These two methods and materials have largely been used in missionary church planting movements due to the ease of use, no additional resources needed, and the ability to repeat the process to create a naturally reproductive system of helping people find and follow God.
